LeBlanc Communications Sdn Bhd today launched the Shave It Off campaign, with the participation of TFP Solutions Bhd and Malaysia National Cancer Council (Makna), to raise awareness of the risks of cancer.
LeBlanc Communications managing director Kuna Muno and TFP Solutions group managing director Quah Tek Jin joined 21 employees in fulfilling their pledge to shave their heads to show solidarity with cancer patients.
Kuna, who recently lost a family member to cancer, said there should be better awareness of the disease which affected many Malaysians as early detection could save lives.
“Our understanding of the seriousness of the matter drove us to help not only our people, but other cancer patients as well with the Shave It Off: In support of cancer awareness campaign.
“We look forward to a lasting relationship with Makna as we hope to be more involved in the effort to spread awareness and help make things better for those in need,” he said.
The provider of end-to-end wireless telecommunications network infrastructure raised RM165,000 for Makna’s awareness programmes through the campaign.
Muno said the sum was raised from individuals and organisations through the volunteers’ pledges to shave their heads in sympathy with cancer patients, who tended to suffer hair loss as a side effect of their treatments.
The volunteers were shaved by a barber on stage in front of a crowd shouting encouragement today. – November 20, 2015.
