MAKNA Cancer Research Award

The MAKNA Cancer Research Award (MCRA) marks its 19th year of supporting young cancer researchers in the country by naming three recipients who will receive RM90,000 in grants to fund their research.

The Award was initiated in the year 2001 to encourage and recognise the importance of research and development by local scientists in advancing knowledge that is geared towards helping cancer patients and discovering potential cures for the disease.

The selection of the recipients for MCRA 2019 and 2020 was conducted by a distinguished panel headed by the Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM) Fellow, Professor Dr Cheong Sok Ching FASc, alongside other prominent ASM Fellows. For 2019 we received 98 applications for this Award – the most number of applications we have received.
