MAKNA launches new halfway house for paediatric cancer patients

The Youth Health Carnival 2024, themed “Jom Sihat Cergas Ke Sekolah”, was successfully held on June 26, 2024, at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Puteri Ampang. The event was organized through a collaboration between the school and the Titiwangsa District Health Office, alongside strategic partners including the National Cancer Council (MAKNA), the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK), The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM), the Kuala Lumpur Health Clinic, Dato’ Keramat Dental Clinic, and the Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur & Putrajaya Health Education Branch (JKWPKL&P).
The primary goal of the program was to empower teenagers by increasing their health awareness, knowledge, and skills, thus promoting a healthy and responsible lifestyle. The event saw the participation of nearly 500 students and school staff.
The program kicked off with a one-hour Fitness Aerobics session at the Wellness on Wheels (WOW) truck, followed by various health talks on topics such as Basic Life Support (Primary Health Unit), Hand Hygiene & Infectious Diseases (CDC Unit), HIV/AIDS Disease Awareness (HIV/AIDS Unit), Healthy Mind Relaxation Techniques (Occupational Therapy Unit), Physical Fitness (Physiotherapy Unit), Oral Hygiene (Klinik Pergigian Dato’ Keramat), ‘Lebih Baik Cegah’ (AADK), and the Dangers of Smoking/Vape (MAKNA).
Additionally, adolescent health status screening was conducted for Form 1 to 3 students, while adult health screening and HPV screening were available for school employees.
The event concluded with the presentation of prizes, the inauguration, and the launch of SMK Puteri Ampang’s Kelab Doktor Muda.
