MAKNA Partnered with VALE to Bring Free Cancer Screenings and Awareness to Manjung
MAKNA’s Cancer Screening Program was a beacon of hope, combining accessible screening services, education, and awareness to empower individuals to take charge of their health and detect cancer early.
For the first time, MAKNA partnered with Vale, one of the world’s leading mining companies, to launch a mobile cancer screening program in Manjung. This innovative initiative brought breast cancer screenings directly to communities, especially those in rural and underserved areas, using state-of-the-art mobile trailers. Women from the B40 group accessed mammograms, ultrasounds, and clinical breast examinations conducted by experienced professionals—all at no cost, ensuring convenience and accessibility.
Beyond breast cancer, the program also championed colorectal cancer awareness by providing iFOBT self-test kits to participants. This effort underscored the importance of early detection, which is crucial for successful treatment and improving survival rates.

The mobile screening truck was stationed at Klinik Desa Ayer Tawar from 9 am to 5 pm, welcoming the public to take advantage of these essential services. Walk-in clinical breast examinations and iFOBT tests were available, while mammograms and breast ultrasounds were offered by appointment. Additionally, free HPV DNA and pap smear screenings, provided by the Manjung District Health Office, further supported the community’s health needs.
MAKNA was deeply grateful for Vale’s support in extending our cancer screening services to the people of Manjung. This partnership was a testament to our shared commitment to reaching those who may not have easy access to healthcare, especially in remote areas. Through such collaborative efforts, we continued to bring hope and make a meaningful impact in the fight against cancer.
MAKNA warmly welcomed other organizations to join us in this vital cause, as we strived to raise awareness and make a lasting, positive difference in the lives of many. Together, we fostered a healthier, more informed society where early detection and prevention were at the forefront of our fight against cancer.
