MAKNA Continuous Education (MCE): Living the Values, Empowering the Mission
This year’s MAKNA Continuous Education (MCE) program brought MAKNA staff to Kelantan, a state with one of the highest numbers of cancer patients living in rural areas. Inspired by Dato’ Mohd Farid Ariffin, the initiative aims to strengthen a culture of compassion, ensuring that every act of care carries the legacy of hope and humanity at its core.
Across nine districts — Bachok, Gua Musang, Jeli, Kuala Krai, Machang, Pasir Mas, Pasir Puteh, Tanah Merah and Tumpat — the team reached 39 cancer patients and families, each representing a story of resilience and courage. Many of these families live far from major hospitals, with journeys ranging from 20 minutes to over three hours, reflecting the daily challenges of accessing care.

For MAKNA’s staff, it was a humbling journey into the lives of those they serve, offering a deeper understanding of what it truly means to care. For patients, the MCE visits brought moral and financial support, while their families witnessed that MAKNA’s care extends far beyond medical aid; it touches hearts and restores hope.
The programme also strengthened connections with local agencies and communities, expanding MAKNA’s ability to provide holistic and sustainable support. Through MCE, MAKNA continues to live its values, proving that compassion knows no distance, and every step taken together brings hope closer to home.
