CANCER SURVIVOR PURSUES FURTHER EDUCATION
Among The Young Cancer Survivor scholarship recipients is Naizatul Syuhada Binti Hassan, a 19 year old former retinablastoma patient. In 1997, Naizatul lost her sight in the right eye due to cancer. Because of her tireless effort, enthusiasm and some financial assistance from MAKNA, she has successfully completed her studies at Selayang Community College, with a Certificate in Bakery and Confectionary. However, she did not look for a job immediately as she had to look after both her parents who were ill. 2 months after her mother passed away, she got a job at the café at the college where she studied. Today, she works at Marvelcakes in Selayang, fulfilling orders for all kinds of cakes. Her new aim now is to gain more knowledge and experience in baking in order for her to open her own bakery one day.
