From 14 to 17 April, MAKNA’s Mobile Cancer Screening Unit continued its mission of making early detection accessible by travelling to Klinik Kesihatan Malim Nawar and Klinik Kesihatan Kampar. Over four days, the response from the community was remarkable. A total of 208 mammogram screenings, 214 clinical breast examinations and 29 ultrasound screenings were carried out. Additionally, 92 iFOBT kits were distributed, with a strong 66 percent return rate. These numbers reflect the community’s growing awareness and willingness to prioritise their health when services are brought closer to their doorstep.

At the conclusion of the programme, the screening outcomes were presented to Jabatan Kesihatan Negeri (JKN) Perak through the participating clinics. The positive turnout and meaningful data collected sparked JKN Perak’s interest in exploring deeper collaboration, leading to discussions for expanded screening initiatives in the 2026 calendar. This marks an important step forward, demonstrating that the impact of MAKNA’s mobile screening continues long after the event ends.

For MAKNA, the significance of the programme goes beyond early detection. Each visit carries the responsibility of reducing barriers faced by rural and underserved communities. Simultaneously, we reinforce our long-standing commitment to ease the burden of cancer care for underprivileged families. The support shown by the community and the strengthened ties with Klinik Kesihatan teams, reflects the lasting value of bringing screening services directly to those who need them most.
